Congratulations!! Dr. David L. Lane of Dallas, Texas was recently chosen as 2015's best national representative of "Deep Preaching" by Sermon Central Preaching Resources. He is the first African American minister of any church fellowship or denomination to be recognized in that category and the only minister among Churches of Christ.
Dr. Lane is the Resident Retired Minister of Marsalis Avenue Church of Christ and C.E.O. of Ja-Kem Consorts and Leadership Institute both located in Dallas, Texas. He became world renown as a pioneer in Therapeutic Preaching during the nineties and is recognized as being the first African American to write a textbook on the subject. Dr. Lane's upcoming book, "Looking Up Without Giving Up", is an updated textbook of therapeutic preaching. He is also the author of Low Motives in High Places and All Stressed Up, and No Place to Go. Resident Retired Minister

Dr. David L. Lane, serves as Resident Retired Minister to the Marsalis Avenue Church of Christ, Dallas, TX and CEO of Ja Kem Consorts & Leadership Institute.
Because of his artistic and oratorical skills, he is affectionately called "THE GOLDEN VOICE of the SOUTHWEST".
He is a native of Paris, Texas and holds several degrees including an:
•A. A. in Religion and Psychology
•B. A. in Religion and Psychology
•Masters of Ministry in Counseling Psychology
•Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Theology
•Several Honorary Doctorate Degrees
He is also a pioneer developer of "Therapeutic Preaching". His 1989 doctoral dissertation is entitled "THERAPEUTIC PREACHING IN THE BLACK CHURCH FOR THE TEACHING OF BLACK HOMILE TICS STUDENTS AS DEMONSTRATED IN THE TEACHING AND PREACHING MODEL OF DAVID L. LANE." This work published as a textbook and used in colleges and seminaries is titled, "Powerful Preaching to People With Problems."
This was the first published textbook on therapeutic preaching, it focuses on the mechanics of preparation and delivery of sermons from a black perspective. His teaching modality is designed to help people overcome their hurts, habits and hang-ups.
Therapeutic preaching heals the wounds of hurts, habits and hang-ups. It is an approach to preaching and ministry that confronts, exposes hurts, habits and hang-ups (religious, doctrinal, traditional, personal, emotional or cultural) and leads one to a knowledge and deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, the Great Physician.
As a Psycho-Therapist, Dr. Lane assisted writing the techniques for Aggression Reduction Training (A.R.T.) used by the U.S. Department of Education. This program has been used in urban schools across the nation for more than twenty five years.
He was the A.R.T. Consultant for the Ferguson-Florissant School District for more than fifteen years. It was his responsibility to train and supervise the school counselors in the techniques of the program. He also served as director of Berkeley Heights Life Management Center, the counseling ministry of the Berkeley Heights Church of Christ, St. Louis, Missouri for twenty one years.
Dr. Lane travels nationally and internationally conducting seminars and workshops for school districts, educational institutions, businesses and churches on Cultural diversity, A.R.T. orientation, Leadership Development, Marriage Enrichment, Human Relations, Male and Female Mentoring, Personal development, Goal setting, Time management, Anger and Stress management.

Dr. Lane has served as On-Site coordinator for the National Lectureship of Churches of Christ. At Southwestern Christian College, he serves on the Board of Trustee Executive Committee and president of the National Tau Phi Kappa, the ministerial fraternity.
He has preached in forty two states and twenty two foreign countries and has trained and mentored over ninety ministers.
He is married to the former Stephanie Leach of Cincinnati, Ohio. She holds a Doctorate of Education degree from St. Louis University in Education Administration.
She is a retired elementary principal for the Ferguson-Florissant School District and currently serves as a reading specialist and education consultant. She is a speaker for local, regional and national women's programs, lectureships and civic programs.
Drs. David and Stephanie Lane are the proud parents of three (3) adult children; David Le'Marcus, Stephen Antoine and Lorna Davette; one (1) grandson, Elijah Jadon and an adopted grandson Brendan Jacar Baldwin.
